Courses are taught in the fully equipped salon which is located in
our Applied Learning Centre.

Key Stage 4

The Level 1 Hair and Beauty course is run over two years, through Years 10 and 11. It is made up of thirteen units.

These include : Shampoo and Conditioning, Skin Care, Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector, Presenting a Face Painting, Nail Art Application, Providing Basic Manicure Treatment, Create a Hair and Beauty Image, Follow Health and Safety in the Salon and Salon Reception Duties.

There is a practical element to the course, in which the learners undergo a series of tasks and assessments. Practical tasks will be undertaken when the tutor agrees that the student is ready for assessment.

Students will be required to undertake knowledge tasks in assignments to show their subject knowledge. Completion of assignments will be in class and some as additional work outside of college sessions.

This is a level 1 course and assignments are graded at Pass, Merit and Distinction.

Key Stage 5

We offer the Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing course for Key Stage 5 students.  This is a City and Guilds Qualification.
