Key Stage 4
In this popular option students will study Level 1 Motor Vehicle. which is a very good qualification recognised by the motor vehicle industry. Students will study a range of topics including vehicle service and repair principles, engine systems, lubrication & cooling, tyre fitting, brakes and suspension systems. Work is assessed through practical assessments, supported by small written assignments and on-line tests. It is an ideal course for those who love practical work and looking to pursue a career within engineering. On completion, students can progress to Level 2 qualifications, either at UCC or at college or enter the world of work as an apprentice. Extra curricular activities include lunch time and after school clubs, the Green Power racing car project and banger racing. Key Stage 5 At Key Stage 5 students have the opportunity to study the IMIAL Level 2 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles (VRQ). This is run as a ‘pre-apprenticeship’ scheme of two days at UCC and three days in industry. |
